Rumors of Apple Watch 8: Major Health Features Upgrade Expected

If the rumors flying around the launch of the Apple Watch 8 are true, then the health features overhaul will be the best possible reason to upgrade to the latest device.

Since the launch of the original, Apple has announced a new version of the Apple Watch every year so that we can expect the same for this year also. The Apple Watch 7 series was not that much upgraded as per se to the previous generations of upgrades. It got a little bigger screen, faster charging, and improved durability. This can mean that Apple is getting ready to launch the new series with more prominent upgrades in the next-gen Apple Watch, specifically in the health department, due to the prolonged reality of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Apple Watch 8 Series can come with a thermometer and blood pressure monitoring.

Apple already held persistent health ambitions for its popular wrist accessory. According to Wall Street Journal, Apple could introduce a number of new health-beneficial features in the new Apple Watch 8 Series, or whatever Apple will name it, as early as next year.

One of the features could be a thermometer which will help with fertility planning. It might be used for detecting fever in future releases. Another new feature that might be added to the new Series could be a blood-pressure monitoring system. If we take the words of WSJ, Apple Watch 8 Series will tell blood pressure by measuring the speed of the wave, using sensors, heartbeat sends through the arteries of a person.

Apple Watch 8 Series | Rumored Design

Apple Watch 8 Series

You can say that most of the design language of the Apple Watch series has remained the same since the launch of the first one in 2016. One of the major changes came with the release of the Apple Watch 7 Series, changing the design of the chassis from iconic squircle to a curvier build to accommodate larger displays.

We are expecting Apple to move towards a more box-shaped design language of the Apple iPhones this time. The flat-edged design was first rumored for 7 Series, so we can expect Apple to bring that change to the new “Series.” Jon Prosser shared a series of renders that make these expectations somewhat valid. 91mobiles also teased a flat-edged design, including the display, with some leaked CAD renders.

Will Apple jump to a sharper design instead of using the curviest Apple Watch design yet? Time will tell.

Apple Watch 8 Series | Rumored Pricing and Release Date

Apple Watch 8

We could be months away from the launch of the Apple Watch 8 Series if we go by the launch of the previous Series. We don’t know a potential release date but expect Apple to launch the Apple Watch 8 Series in September 2022.

Similar to the release date, there is no information about the pricing of the new Apple Watch 8 Series right now. We can expect the same price for Apple Watch 8 as the older Apple Watch 7 because of the same pricing structure maintained by Apple over the years. $399 is the current price of the Apple Watch 7 for the 41mm model. But you pay a premium for the larger 45mm model with cellular connectivity.

We can also expect an Apple Watch SE follow-up for a lower price tier if we are lucky enough. Apple Watch SE 2 could be priced at $279 with some of the updated features and specs for the consumers who are looking for a budget option.
